UPDATE FROM HATTIESBURG: The Rev. Glenn Merritt, director, LCMS Disaster Response, reports that utility crews are still hard at work restoring power to homes and businesses affected by last weekend’s tornado. Mercifully, there are no new reports of damage.
The city has authorized a call for volunteers to help clear trees and repair buildings. Patch and tarp crews plus those experienced in working with chain saws are especially needed. Interested volunteers may contact Pastor Ed Brashier at 205-296-3714 or email@example.com.
LCMS Disaster Response staff will remain in contact with leaders of the LCMS Southern District and St. John Lutheran and we will continue to offer material, financial and people resources as needed. Thank you for your concern, and please continue to keep the people of Hattiesburg, the emergency responders and all those involved in the recovery process in your prayers.
