As a result of Superstorm Sandy, thousands of people in the New York metro area lost everything. Immanuel Lutheran Church in Whitestone, N.Y., is blessed to be able to accommodate six families with temporary shelter through the congregation’s ministry known as Koinonia Mission House.
Five families (totaling 34 people) with small children who lost electric power, and one family who lost everything are still staying in their Koinonia Mission House. Immanuel Lutheran Church is still in the process of taking in two more families. With additional funding through your donations and grants from The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, Immanuel Lutheran Church will continue to be a house of shelter and mercy for God’s people.
