Pray for Caribbean nations, Gulf Coast areas in path of Tropical Storm Isaac

Updated: August 25, 2012 – 2:25 PM
Please pray for the Caribbean nations, international partner church members, LCMS members and all those residing in the path of Tropical Storm Isaac — now passing over Cuba after dousing Haiti. News reports indicate the storm is expected to reach Florida and the Gulf Coast Monday or Tuesday.
LCMS Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean Rev. Ted Krey requests prayers for the region. Haiti is especially vulnerable as the country is still rebuilding and continuing to suffer from the lasting affects of the 2010 earthquake. Krey and his family, along with a number of LCMS missionaries and local mission team members are based in the Dominican Republic. There are three reported deaths in Haiti and thousands have been evacuated because of flooding. There are also early reports of property damage of some of our partner church buildings.
District Disaster Response Coordinators in the LCMS districts along the Gulf Coast are poised and ready to respond to the affects of Tropical Storm Isaac. We are grateful to all who support the LCMS’ disaster response ministry, which helps equip and strengthen our LCMS districts and congregations to respond and deliver Christ’s mercy on behalf of the church.
Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Get Involved:
- Join us in praying: “Look mercifully, O Lord, we implore You, on all in the path of Tropical Storm Isaac, especially our brothers and sisters in Haiti. Grant them Your present and eternal protection. For Jesus sake, abide with them. Lift up Your face and be gracious to them in this time of danger. Protect their homes and dear ones, especially those who are weak and helpless. Send Your holy angel to watch over them. Give wisdom and strength to those who are at this moment preparing to bear mercy in Your name to the ones who will be affected by the storm’s ravages. Give all faith to cast their anxieties and cares on You who stills storms and guides the souls of men through every danger; in Jesus’ name. Amen”
