Today, many are battling wildfires raging in Colorado and Tropical Storm Debby’s deluge of rain on Florida. “LCMS congregations and districts are evaluating these ongoing disasters and the LCMS’ role in responding,” said Rev. Dr. Edward Grimenstein, manager for the LCMS’ disaster response ministry. Please join us in prayer for the victims of these disasters and the emergency responders, and check back for updates.
“Heavenly Father, we come to Your throne of mercy, bowed down and wearied by the weight of suffering and disaster through the flooding and fires that parts of our nation are now experiencing. We beg You to protect all those who are affected in their hour of need. We implore You, let not the hearts of Your people despair nor our faith fail us, but sustain and comfort us. Direct all efforts to attend the injured, console those who are experiencing great loss, calm the fears of all who face the coming hours, days and weeks with uncertainty and protect all who are in harm’s way, especially those whose vocation it is to engage these dangers for the sake of their neighbors. Be with all who are providing care and services for body and soul in the midst of these perilous circumstances. We commit all affected to Your gracious mercy and protection; through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.”
